Submit!
Our literature submissions are currently closed, but we are still open for features! We welcome journalism, culture writing, and critique pieces, as well as submissions for our Meet the Artist spotlight series. To get a sense of what we’re looking for, check out our Features page.
Features, journalism, & critique
Essays, personal narratives, interviews, criticism, opinion pieces, and reported pieces of any length. Culture writing that engages with topics like music, film, fashion, art, and the world around you. Also, we love pieces that discuss physical and/or metaphorical spaces! We also accept previously published articles from platforms like Substack!
Meet the Artist spotlight
Artists: submit a short interview for a feature in our spotlight series. Tell us about your practice, your inspirations, and what you’re working on. Open to visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, photographers, and creatives of all kinds.
We prioritize submissions from authors and artists ages 15–30; however, creatives older than that may submit as long as they are in the early stages of their career.
how to submit —
We accept simultaneous submissions. However, please do not submit work that is under exclusivity or where prior publication agreements prohibit multiple use. Currently, we are limiting submissions to those not written or significantly aided by generative AI.
At Homeplace, we read and view all of your lovely pieces! We aim to respond to submissions within 2–4 weeks with editing suggestions if needed. Please note that accepted pieces may be used for upcoming print and digital editions, and artists will be contacted upon selection. Visual contributors retain all rights to republish their work elsewhere without restriction, while literary works may be republished provided Homeplace is acknowledged as the original publisher. If you have further questions, feel free to reach out at homeplacemag@gmail.com. We look forward to reading and viewing your work!
